Goodman Furnace Code EEN
Hard lockout
Igniter open. The control cannot see a complete circuit through the hot surface igniter - usually a cracked igniter or an unplugged igniter connector.
Manual wording: “Ignitor open.”
Documented for: Goodman GMVC96, GCVC96, GMVM97, GCVM97, GM9S80, GC9S80, GR9S80, GD9S80, GR9T96, GD9T96 (seven-segment display controls)
Likely causes, most common first
- Loose or incorrect wiring from integrated control board to ignitor
- Damaged ignitor
When to call a technician
Hot surface igniters are fragile and sit in the burner compartment. Replacement is a technician job.
A Goodman furnace throwing this code repeatedly has a reason — clearing the code without fixing the cause just hides it.
