Amana

Amana and Goodman are both Daikin Comfort Technologies brands built in Waller, TX on the same platforms and the same integrated control boards. One installation manual covers both, using a wildcard model number (for example *MVC96 = GMVC96 and AMVC96), so a code means the same thing on either brand. Daikin-branded furnaces of the same generation use these controls too.

American Standard

American Standard Heating and Air Conditioning is a Trane Technologies brand and shares furnace platforms and integrated furnace control (IFC) boards with Trane. Older Silver/Gold 80 and 95 furnaces (*UD1/*DD1, CUB1/CDB1) use a single red diagnostic LED that blinks a count; current models (A801X, A951X, S8V2, S9V2 and the Silver/Gold/Platinum 80 and 95 lines) use a seven-segment display showing E-codes. Wording differs slightly from the Trane version of the same table - for example American Standard prints '4 Flashes --- Open Temperature Limit Circuit' where Trane prints 'Open High Limit Device'.

Bryant

Bryant is a Carrier (ICP) brand and uses the same furnace control boards and the same status-code numbering as Carrier and Payne. A Bryant 926 flashes the same code numbers as the equivalent Carrier 58-series furnace.

Carrier

Carrier, Bryant and Payne are all ICP/Carrier (Carrier Global) brands and share the same furnace control boards and the same 2-digit LED status-code system. A Bryant 926 or Payne PG92 will flash the same code numbers as the equivalent Carrier 58-series furnace.

Coleman

Coleman residential gas furnaces are built by Johnson Controls Unitary Products (UPG) on the same chassis and the same control boards as York, Luxaire, Champion, Guardian and Fraser-Johnston. Johnson Controls publishes one installation manual per chassis that carries all of those model prefixes, so the LED flash-code table is identical brand to brand (the modulating manual, for example, lists CP9C, YP9C, LP9C and TP9C together). There are two distinct code systems: the classic UPG single/two-stage board (TG8S, TG9S, TM8X, TM9X, TM8T, TM9T, TM8V, TM9V, TM9E) which uses 1-13 red flashes plus green/amber status flashes, and the Echelon modulating board (CP9C / CPLC) which uses a different red/green/amber list. Coleman also sells mobile-home / manufactured-housing furnaces (DGAA, DGAH, EB electric) which use different controls and are not covered here.

Daikin

Daikin uses one alphanumeric error-code set across its residential ductless line. The same table appears in the FTXS-L / FDXS-L pair service manual, the H-Series (FTXS/RKS-HVJU) pair manual, the FTXM-W/V (Atmosphera) manual, and the RMXS multi-split manual, so an A5 or U4 on a 2015 FTXS wall-mount means the same thing as on a current Atmosphera. Multi-zone systems (MXS / RMXS with Branch Provider units) add transmission and address codes (U9, UF, UH, UC, UE) that pair systems never show, and a few codes are re-used with a different meaning on multi-zone hardware (E5 and F6 in particular). Codes are read on the wireless remote's temperature display using the unit's service-check / code-retrieval mode, not on the indoor unit itself.

Fujitsu

Fujitsu General builds the Halcyon (now AIRSTAGE) mini-split line sold in the US and Canada under both the Fujitsu and General names. Every R410A/R32 mini-split generation from the RL2/RLS2/RLS3/RLB/RLXB/RLF/RGLX era through the current LMAS/LZAS/LPAS/LUAS1 series uses the SAME two-number fault system: the OPERATION lamp blinks the first digit and the TIMER lamp blinks the second digit (while the ECONOMY lamp blinks fast/continuously), and the same number appears as a two-character code (11, 12, 41, A1, J2) on a wired remote controller. Older units (RLS, RLXS, CQ, RQ, R2, RL, RML, RMLQ, CLX, RLX, RLXQ, CL, RLQ) use a DIFFERENT blink-to-fault mapping for the same faults; those alternate patterns are recorded in each code's notes field.. Goodman

Lennox

Lennox furnaces use two different diagnostic systems. Merit/Elite 80-95% single- and two-stage units (ML180, ML193, EL195, EL296E) use a SureLight integrated control with a single red LED that flashes a count (1-13). Variable-capacity and communicating units (SLP98V, SLP99V, SL280V, EL296V, EL296E) use a seven-segment display that shows alphanumeric alert codes (E105, E200, E223, E292 ...). The E-code set is shared across the iComfort/SureLight variable-capacity control family, so the same code number means the same thing on an SLP98UHV and an EL296UHE. Armstrong Air, AirEase, Concord and Ducane are Allied Air brands also owned by Lennox International but use different control boards and a different code list - do not assume these codes carry over.

LG

LG uses one CH## error-code set across its residential ductless line: single-zone wall-mount (LS/LA/LAN indoor + LSU/LAU outdoor), Art Cool, ceiling cassette, ducted/LGRED, and the Multi F / Multi F MAX multi-zone systems (LMU outdoor units). CH01-CH12 are indoor-unit faults and CH21-CH73 are outdoor-unit faults, except CH05/CH53 which are the two ends of the same indoor-to-outdoor communication fault. LG's commercial Multi V VRF equipment uses the same low numbers plus a much larger extended code set that is NOT covered here.

Mitsubishi Electric

Mitsubishi Electric ductless systems use two different fault-code displays. Residential M-Series wall units (MSZ/MSY indoor with MUZ/MUY single-zone or MXZ multi-zone outdoor) that ship with only an infrared handheld remote report faults by blinking the OPERATION INDICATOR lamp on the indoor unit a set number of times - this is the 'blinking N times' pattern homeowners search for. The same A-Control platform, when a wired remote controller (PAR-series or MHK-series thermostat) is connected, displays the alphanumeric check codes (P1-PL, E0-EF, F3/F5, U1-UP) plus their 4-digit equivalents. P-Series / Mr. Slim equipment (PUZ outdoor, PKA/PLA/PEAD indoor) uses the same alphanumeric check-code set, so the code meanings below apply across M-Series and P-Series. Codes beginning with P and E are detected by the indoor unit; codes beginning with U and F are detected by the outdoor unit.

Payne

Payne is a Carrier (ICP) value brand and uses the same furnace control boards and the same status-code numbering as Carrier and Bryant. A Payne PG92/PG95/PG96 flashes the same code numbers as the equivalent Carrier 58-series or Bryant furnace.

Rheem

Ruud is the same manufacturer (Rheem Manufacturing Company) and uses the identical integrated furnace control and the identical fault-code set: the Ruud U97V, U96V and U801 furnaces are the same units as the Rheem R97V, R96V and R801. Rheem publishes one installation manual per platform with a "(-)" brand placeholder on the cover (e.g. "(-)97V SERIES") covering both the R and U model prefixes. Older Rheem 90+ furnaces (RGRA/RGRB/RGTA/RGRS/RGTS/RGRT) use a UT Electronic Controls 1028-928 board with green-LED blink codes instead of the 7-segment display.

Ruud

Ruud is a Rheem Manufacturing Company brand. Ruud U97V, U96V and U801 furnaces are the same equipment as the Rheem R97V, R96V and R801, with the identical integrated furnace control and the identical fault-code set. Rheem publishes one installation manual per platform with a "(-)" brand placeholder on the cover (e.g. "(-)97V SERIES") covering both the U (Ruud) and R (Rheem) model prefixes, hosted on Rheem's public PTS document store. Older standard-efficiency Ruud furnaces use a green-LED blink-code board instead of the 7-segment display; Rheem publishes the same TP0002 flash-code tech tip on my.ruud.com.

Trane

Trane and American Standard are both Trane Technologies brands and share the same integrated furnace control (IFC) platforms. Older induced-draft and condensing furnaces (XR80/XR95/XV80/XV95 era) use a single red diagnostic LED that blinks a count; current S-series furnaces (S8B1, S8V2, S9X1/S9X2, S9V2, S9V2-VS) use a two/three-character seven-segment display showing E-codes. American Standard's equivalent models (A801X, A951X, Silver/Gold/Platinum 80 and 95) use the same tables with brand-specific wording.

York

The same UPG furnace control boards and the same LED flash-code tables are used across York, Coleman, Luxaire, Champion, Guardian and Fraser-Johnston branded furnaces, and Johnson Controls publishes one installation manual per chassis covering all of those model prefixes (e.g. the modulating manual covers YP9C, CP9C, LP9C and TP9C together). There are two distinct code systems: the classic UPG single/two-stage board (TG8S, TG9S, TM8X, TM9X, TM8T, TM9T, TM8V, TM9V, TM9E, TM8Y, TM9Y) which uses 1-13 red flashes plus green/amber status flashes, and the modulating board (YP9C / YPLC and the older Affinity modulating furnaces) which uses a different red/green/amber flash list.
