Daikin Mini-Split Code F8
Hard lockout
System shutdown due to compressor internal temperature abnormality. The discharge pipe thermistor exceeded 261.5F during forced cooling operation and the system shut itself down.
Manual wording: “F8 System shutdown due to compressor internal temperature abnormality”
Documented for: FTXM-W/V (Daikin Atmosphera)
Likely causes, most common first
- Abnormal operation due to air intrusion into the refrigerant circuit
- Defective discharge pipe thermistor
- Abnormal deformation of piping in the outdoor unit
What you can safely check yourself
- Shut the system off at the breaker or disconnect switch and leave it off until a technician can look at it
When to call a technician
F8 is a shutdown, not a temporary trip - the manual's own path ends in replacing the discharge thermistor and PCB or the whole outdoor unit. Call a technician and do not keep resetting it.
A Daikin mini-split throwing this code repeatedly has a reason — clearing the code without fixing the cause just hides it.
