Outdoor unit PCB abnormality. The outdoor control board's microprocessor ran out of control, or it is not seeing the zero-cross signal from the incoming power.

  2. Broken harness between PCBs

  4. Momentary fall of voltage

What you can safely check yourself

  • Check for a recent power outage or brownout
  • Turn the system off at the breaker or disconnect switch, wait a minute, and turn it back on once

If E1 returns after a power cycle the outdoor control board is failing and needs replacing by a technician.
