Daikin Mini-Split Code E1
Hard lockout
Outdoor unit PCB abnormality. The outdoor control board's microprocessor ran out of control, or it is not seeing the zero-cross signal from the incoming power.
Manual wording: “Outdoor E1 Outdoor unit PCB abnormality”
Documented for: RKS/RXS pair outdoor units, FTXM-W/V outdoor units, RMXS multi-split outdoor
Likely causes, most common first
- Defective outdoor unit PCB
- Broken harness between PCBs
- Noise
- Momentary fall of voltage
- Momentary power failure
What you can safely check yourself
- Check for a recent power outage or brownout
- Turn the system off at the breaker or disconnect switch, wait a minute, and turn it back on once
When to call a technician
If E1 returns after a power cycle the outdoor control board is failing and needs replacing by a technician.
A Daikin mini-split throwing this code repeatedly has a reason — clearing the code without fixing the cause just hides it.
