Bryant Furnace Code 22.1
Safety faultShown as: 2 short flashes, 2 long flashes
False flame. The control senses flame while the gas valve is de-energized. The inducer runs continuously until the fault clears.
Manual wording: “22.1 FALSE FLAME - Flame is proved while gas valve is de-energized. Inducer will run until fault is cleared.”
Documented for: 926TC, 912SE
Likely causes, most common first
- Stuck open or leaky gas valve
When to call a technician
The furnace is detecting burning gas when the valve should be closed. Shut the furnace off at the service switch and call a technician right away. Do not touch the gas valve.
A Bryant furnace throwing this code repeatedly has a reason — clearing the code without fixing the cause just hides it.
