Rheem Furnace Code 60

Warning

Blower fault, blower can still run. A non-critical motor fault: the blower keeps running but at less than optimal conditions. Everything, including thermostat calls, continues to work.

Manual wording: “BLOWER FAULT - BLOWER CAN STILL RUN ... A blower fault which is non-critical allows the blower to continue to run but at less-than-optimal conditions.

Documented for: (-)97V, (-)96V

Likely causes, most common first

  1. The blower has hit the maximum speed or torque limit specified by the manufacturer or is running at the temperature limit because the static pressure is too high

What you can safely check yourself

  • Check and replace a dirty air filter.
  • Open all supply registers and clear anything blocking the return air grilles.

When to call a technician

If a clean filter and open registers do not clear it, the duct system static pressure is too high and a technician needs to measure it and correct the ductwork.

A Rheem furnace throwing this code repeatedly has a reason — clearing the code without fixing the cause just hides it.
