Amana Furnace Code OFF

Hard lockoutShown as: off

No light at all on the control board. Either the furnace has no power, the board fuse is blown, or the control board itself has failed.

Manual wording: “Control Failure / No Power / Internal Fault / IRQ Loss

Documented for: Amana AMS8, AMH8, ADS8, ADH8, AMEH8, AMES80, ACES80, AMSS92, AMSS96, ACSS96 (single red diagnostic LED)

Likely causes, most common first

  1. Manual disconnect switch OFF, door switch open, or 24 volt wires improperly connected or loose
  2. Blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker
  3. Integrated control module has an internal fault

What you can safely check yourself

  • Check the furnace breaker in the electrical panel and reset it once if it has tripped
  • Check that the switch on or near the furnace (it looks like a light switch) is turned on
  • Check that the furnace door panel is fully closed and seated - the door switch cuts all power when the panel is off

When to call a technician

If the breaker, service switch and door panel are all right and there is still no light, the transformer, board fuse or control board needs a technician.

A Amana furnace throwing this code repeatedly has a reason — clearing the code without fixing the cause just hides it.
