Amana Furnace Code EEE
Hard lockout
The furnace control board detected an internal fault in itself and stopped.
Manual wording: “Furnace control board has detected an internal fault.”
Documented for: Amana AMVC96, ACVC96, AMVM97, ACVM97, AM9S80, AC9S80, AR9S80, AD9S80, AR9T96, AD9T96 (seven-segment display controls)
Likely causes, most common first
- 120VAC power wiring loose or damaged
- Poor ground wire
- Damaged or miswired 120V or 24V wiring on the furnace
What you can safely check yourself
- Turn power off to the furnace at its switch for at least 3 minutes, then back on, to see if the code clears
When to call a technician
If EEE returns, the control board and its power wiring need a technician. The manual warns not to replace other components based on this code.
A Amana furnace throwing this code repeatedly has a reason — clearing the code without fixing the cause just hides it.
